Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Prince George region through 9:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday, July 6).
Meteorologists are tracking a storm "capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain," the agency said in a post on its website. "The severe cell is located over Wansa Lake 40 km east of Prince George and is moving southward at 10 km/h."
Residents are urged to take cover if threatening weather approaches.
Severe thunderstorm warnings (as opposed to a severe thunderstorm watch) are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing large hail, damaging winds, and/or torrential rainfall.
