UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warning over for Prince George

Skies have simmered down in the northern capital.

Environment Canada has called off its severe thunderstorm warning for Prince George as of 8:05 p.m. this evening (July 31).

There's still currently a 60 per cent chance of showers and some thunderstorms.

5 p.m.

Keep that umbrella handy if you plan on walking around Prince George this evening (July 31).

Environment Canada has a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for the city, calling for a 60 per cent chance of showers and 20 km/h winds.

The warning took effect at 4:25 p.m.

The national agency says a storm is brewing just north of Eskers Provincial Park moving northeast at 35 km/h.

Another severe thunderstorm is being seen by meteorologists west of Highway 97 near Stoner and is moving northeast as well at 30 km/h.
