When a person has been a victim of crime they need to know where to turn for help.

Crime sees many kinds of victimization and trauma. Help for those who experience it is just a phone call or an internet connection away.

VictimLinkBC, a 24/7 referral service, served more than 12,000 people in 2014-15 and offers access to services for victims of crime.

When people have experienced family and sexual violence immediate referrals can be made to transition housing and counselling, as well information is provided about safety planning and protection orders.

"The front-line workers and volunteers who keep programs like VictimLinkBC running 24 hours a day, seven days a week are the unsung heroes," said Mike Morris, minister of public safety and solicitor general.

"Services like this are about making our communities safer and giving our most vulnerable people the support they need at a critical time.

"We all hope for a day when there are no victims of crime, but until it comes, accessible services that can provide everything from a willing listener to safe shelter will be vital."

The province invests more than $70 million in prevention and interventions services, like VictimLinkBC every year.

VictimLinkBC can be reached by calling 1-800-563-0808 or email [email protected].
