An elderly man was killed in a Sunday afternoon crash outside of Quesnel that shut down Highway 97 for hours.
RCMP were called around 1:30 p.m. to the scene of the collision that occurred about 40 kilometres south of Quesnel.
According to witnesses, a northbound car pulled out of its lane and attempted to pass a semi-trailer. During the pass attempt, a southbound pickup truck struck the car.
The 80-year-old driver of the northbound car, from the Quesnel area, was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the pickup truck, a 24-year-old woman, was treated for minor injuries.
