Secret Santa Project Prince George is hosting their first Spread the Warmth Drive on Sunday, Oct. 29 from noon to 2:30 p.m.
Secret Santa PG is a volunteer-based organization that matches families in need with sponsors for some extra help at Christmas, often helping those who do not qualify for other programs.
Secret Santa project is requesting new blankets, sheet sets, bath towels, men’s and ladies’ slippers and gift cards to use to create hampers distributed to those in need at Christmas.
The Spread the Warmth Drive will take place as a drive thru in the CN Centre parking lot in front of the BCNE building – the one with the horse mural on it.
Participants are asked to decorate their vehicle to make things more festive, whether for Halloween or Christmas.
Last year, Secret Santa helped more than 150 families in need.
Toy donations are not needed as they have already received plenty of those.
Volunteers will be collecting items from participating vehicles as they arrive.
Each vehicle will receive an entry form to be eligible to win a large gift basket from local businesses.
There will be a lead vehicle leaving at 12:30 and participants are invited to follow along to do a vehicle parade around town (route still to be determined).
Another way to donate year round is to dedicate your empty drink container refunds to the Secret Santa Project PG at Hart Bottle Depot, account 10105, Nechako Bottle Depot account 986 or PG Return It Centre – Secret Santa PG.
