The balloon of pent up grief has finally been burst for the loved ones of young Kristen Nelson.
In a brief, tragic statement from police it was announced that the 14-year-old missing girl had been located, and the worst fears of all were made real.
"The body of (Nelson) was located this afternoon in a wooded area off of Johnson Road," said Prince George RCMP Sgt. Suzanne McKelvie. "Out of respect for the family, Prince George RCMP are not releasing any further information at this time."
Foul play was never publicly considered during her time missing.
"Nelson was upset at the time of her disappearance and her family is hoping she will call home or they will hear from her friends who may know of her whereabouts," said Prince George RCMP spokeswoman Const. Lesley Smith on May 19 when her disappearance was reported. Her passing comes very close to the time of her birthday.
Police and Nelson's family and friends extended their thanks to the public for help and concern shown during the search period.
