There are plenty of gently used scrubs for sale at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. today

The sale, open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is the culmination of the third successful lightly-scrubbed scrub collection drive that began Oct. 17 and was organized by College of New Caledonia nursing instructor Nancy Esopenko.

"The scrubs are available for sale for between $5 and $20, depending on the uniform at the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation Vendors corner at the hospital," said Esopenko, a Registered Nurse, who teaches in CNC's nursing program. "Some pairs of scrubs are brand new, the price tags are still on them."

"During the 2010-11 school year, two drives raised $1,000 for a CNC bursary for health science students. We'll award four students with $250 each in March."

Three collection bins were set up at Lakewood Dental, UHNBC and CNC's library. Any health professional - from doctors, nurses, medical lab technologists to medical radiography technologists, health care assistants, technologists, dental hygienists and assistants - were invited to donate their gently used scrubs.
