After nearly eight years at Initiatives Prince George (IPG), Kathie Scouten will be moving on to the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC).

Scouten, IPG's vice president of economic development, will become UNBC's development manager effective Sept. 1, becoming responsible for the school's fundraising.

"I will be working to strengthen and grow corporate and personal donations that come in to the university but it will be broader," Scouten said.

"I think what I do is I bring my contacts and my relationships and knowledge of the regional economy to really help out in that area."

Scouten, who holds a bachelors degree in science and a masters in business administration, will be working in the external relations department.

IPG president Tim McEwan said he's taking a look at how Scouten's will be replaced.

"We have a gap that we will be filling and how we fill it, I'm going through it right now," he said.

Scouten will be missed, he said.

"Kathie's made a tremendous contribution to Initiatives Prince George and she had a great opportunity at UNBC and we wish her nothing but the best," McEwan said. "She's been a terrific colleague and a great asset to our organization."

Two others have also been named to positions in external relations:

- Alyson Gourley-Cramer will become the communications and media relations manager starting in mid-October moving over from a similar job at Insurance Corporation of British Columbia.

- Kim Knutsson will become the communications and website officer starting Monday. Knutson has been associated with UNBC since the official opening of the Prince George campus in 1994 and has most recently been working in the continuing studies department.
