Five Prince George science students have unlocked the mystery of what it takes to win a weeklong all-expense-paid trip to
Charlottetown, P.E.I.
The science fair projects they entered were all grand award winners at the 36th annual Central Interior Science Exhibition, held Saturday at UNBC.
Daniel O'Reilly of Immaculate Conception school (Another One Bites the Dust); his sister Emily O'Reilly of College Heights secondary (The Effects of Prunus armeniaca on HeLa Cancer Cells); Aimee Alspaugh, Brooke Tower of Westside Academy (Pure Future Biodiesel); and Caroline Kohlen of Westside Academy (Mate selection: Drosophila melanogaster) all qualified for the Canada Wide Science Fair in Charlottetown, May 12 to 19.
Daniel O'Reilly also won the Best in Exhibition, Level 1, and Best in Category, Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Sciences awards. Travis Cruch of Immaculate Conception captured the Best In Exhibition Level 2 and Engineering Level 2 awards for his Blades Of Green Energy
project.
