With spring finally here the temperatures are rising, but your speed shouldn't, especially in school and playground zones.
Those who do could get a letter in the mail - or worse.
"RCMP volunteers have been attending the areas of concern and of all the vehicles observed, 51 per cent were observed travelling above the posted speed limit," said Prince George RCMP Citizens On Patrol program coordinator Mike Burt.
"If you were one of those drivers, but not stopped by RCMP officers, you will be receiving a warning letter in the mail from the community policing section explaining the violations observed and what the penalty could have been."
RCMP officers will continue to conduct enforcement in areas of concern.
"With nine weeks of school left, we are asking motorists to remain diligent and obey school zones, which are in effect Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. when school is in session" said Prince George RCMP Sgt. Matt LaBelle, the officer in charge of the detachment's traffic services section. "Playground zones are in effect every day of the year from dawn until dusk."
Motorists are also reminded to watch for no parking or no stopping zones, especially in and around school zones. Parking or stopping in these areas to pick up or drop off your children is unsafe and not allowed, even if it's only for a few seconds.
