Same suspect in five robberies

Two recent Prince George robberies fit the hallmarks of another pair of incidents since May, and a fifth more than a year ago. Police believe the same suspect is behind all of these cases, and perhaps others as well.

Two recent Prince George robberies fit the hallmarks of another pair of incidents since May, and a fifth more than a year ago. Police believe the same suspect is behind all of these cases, and perhaps others as well.

"No one was physically hurt during any of these offenses," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass, although weapons have been involved each time.

The most recent robberies took place on Friday and Sunday. The first of these happened at about 10 p.m. at a retail store in the 1600 block of 15th Avenue. The suspect threatened staff there with a knife-like weapon during this crime.

"The suspect departed the business with a quantity of cash and may have left the area in a blue mini van," Douglass said.

On Sunday, the alarm call came from a store on the 1700 block of Queensway. Once again a knife was produced to threaten staff and a small quantity of money was obtained.

"Police are actively investigating both incidents and believe that the same male may be responsible for both robberies," Douglass said, but drew distinct parallels to similar incidents on July 4, May 20, and in June of 2010.

Several surveillance images have been generated but police are not yet clear on the identity of the suspect.
