By-donation barbecues and a portion of recreational vehicle sales saw $3,769.70 recently added to the coffers of the Matt Pearce Memorial Fund by Fraserway RV and their customers.
Pearce, a football icon well known in Prince George, died suddenly at the age of 48 earlier this year, leaving a legacy of scholarships and bursaries to support local students, a tribute to his memory founded by Pearce's family.
Pearce, who grew up in Prince George, played for the UBC Thunderbirds and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, winning the 1990 Grey Cup with the bombers and playing 122 regular season games.
Matt was inducted into the Prince George Sports Hall of Fame in 1999 after retiring in 1995.
