The Spruce Kings 35th annual show home, custom built by Scheck Construction at 2601 Links Drive in Aberdeen Estates, is designed for family.

Both levels of the unique home that totals 3,260 square feet of open-concept living space, valued at a whopping $554,810, feature great sight lines from kitchen to dining room to living room, while downstairs is a recreational hot spot.

No more bumping elbows or pool cues into the support posts of yesteryear's basement. It's clear sailing at the beautifully-appointed billiard table and high-end games table that sit side by side in the recreation space on the lower level of the quality-constructed home. The basement also features a family room area with comfortable seating and a giant screen so no one will miss the big game.

Perfectly suited for youth are two bedrooms that flank the rec room where there is a full bathroom to share.

Each bedroom has a special theme, with one featuring all things Prince George Spruce Kings hockey club and the other featuring swag from Pacific Western Brewing Co. showcasing their Cariboo brand.

With two bedrooms up and the other two down for some all-important degrees of separation and three well-appointed bathrooms, this home can easily accommodate a growing family.

Kitchen, dining and living rooms all feature those little details and big-impact features that can't help but impress.

The walk-in custom pantry, maple and oak cabinetry, Cambria countertops and one-of-a-kind range hood that's a real stop-you-in-your tracks focal point ensures jaw-dropping reactions from everyone who walks into the main floor of the Spruce Kings show home.

The specially-edged, detailed ceiling in the dining room with walk-out to the expansive deck really speaks to the quality construction that features Logix ICF (insulated concrete forms), and extra-thick and sturdy walls that help to achieve the home's certification as an Energy Star home - the only one of its kind in northern B.C., making this a healthier, more comfortable house.

There's classic flooring throughout the home and a vaulted ceiling in the main living area that features more than $20,000 of showroom-quality furniture in which to get comfortable. The triple-pane expansive windows strategically placed throughout the home offer incredible views from most every angle and offer gorgeous sunsets every evening.

The Spruce Kings couldn't put on the Show Home Lottery without long-time sponsorship from several local businesses.

"As Northern Hardware has been in the community for so long, we have always supported community organizations, especially the Spruce Kings show home," said Dennis Busby, appliance centre manager for Northern Hardware, who coordinates furniture and accessories to complement the show home's paint and floor colours. "I have personally been involved in 10 show homes and I have really enjoyed it."

The stunning ultra-modern living room furniture donated by Northern Hardware is from a high-end manufacturer exclusive to the store called Ekornes, best known as Stressless. The living room furniture alone is worth close to $20,000 and is built to last.

The Northern also provided all the appliances from their appliance centre on First Avenue.

"We have exclusivity on brand names no one else can carry, and the appliances in the show home are all Kitchen Aid, which is Whirlpool's North American high-end product line," said Busby.

The fun really begins downstairs.

"We have a large man-cave happening down here," said Busby. "And I was ecstatic when I heard Tropical Pool & Spa was coming in here. We have such a large living space on the lower level - a games room with billiard table and games table is perfectly suited for it. It's really great to meet new business owners that are willing to donate to the community."

Amanda Dunkley of Tropical Pool & Spa is happy to be donating to the Spruce Kings Show Home.

"This is the first time we've been involved and we're really keen to do this and hope to continue to do this for many years to come," said Dunkley.

Another benefit of the home is more of a behind-the-scenes feature but because it reflects on the comfort levels it's just as important as all the visible beauty of the show home.

The heating and cooling system installed at 2601 Links Drive is a high velocity system which is a combination providing domestic hot water and space heating that is zoned, which means the home owner can set different temperatures for different areas of the home. The system also features state-of-the-art air filtration.

"We're very proud this is our 35th anniversary," said Lu Verticchio, business and marketing manager for the Spruce Kings, a non-profit society. "As a sign of the times we've made online purchasing of tickets to the show home lottery available now so getting those tickets is a simple process, especially for all those out-of-towners still looking to support the Spruce Kings."

Purchase tickets for $100 each online at sprucekingsshowhome.ca, call the 24 Hour Hot Line at 250-962-4946 or visit the show home at 2601 Links Drive.
