Donations collected to celebrate the birth of Prince George of Cambridge have been distributed to a local charity.
Following the July 22 birth of the third in line to the British throne, the municipality set up a crib in the city hall foyer to collect new baby clothes and toys for local parents in need.
"Certainly the Duke and Duchess don't need a bunch of stuff," Mayor Shari Green said last month. "I think we can serve our own community by giving within Prince George, which is what we're known for."
The donated items - including the crib they were collected in - went to the Elizabeth Fry Society's Young Parent Program, which provides aid to teen parents.
"Often, the young families that access our program have limited financial resources, so donations such as these can truly make a difference," said Amanda Alexander, Elizabeth Fry manager of women's and children's services.
