A long list of convictions for serious driving offences has grown by one more for a Prince George man.

A long list of convictions for serious driving offences has grown by one more for a Prince George man.

Leo John Penney was sentenced in Prince George provincial court this week to 90 days in jail and was prohibited from driving for five years for driving while disqualified for an Oct. 27, 2010 offence.

It was the eighth time he's been convicted of the charge since November 2001, according to court records.

Penney, born in 1945, has also been twice convicted of driving while impaired and once convicted of driving with a blood-alcohol level over .08.

Court records indicate Penney has a history of ignoring

prohibitions against driving.

In November 2001, Penney was prohibited from driving for 10 years and sentenced to 90 days in jail for driving while prohibited under the Motor Vehicle Act, and received a five-year prohibition and one year in jail and one year probation for two counts of driving while impaired, and 90 days in jail and one year probation for two counts of driving while disqualified under the Criminal Code.

In November 2004, Penney was issued a three-year prohibition and a six-month jail term for two counts of driving while

disqualified.

In August 2006, four counts of driving while disqualified yielded a five-year prohbition and jail terms of three to six months.

And in January 2009, Penney was sentenced to a three-year prohibition and eight months in jail for the driving with a blood-alcohol over .08 conviction.

A trial is scheduled for April 10, 2012 for two more charges of driving while disqualified.
