Get ready to rock out some more, Prince George, because Rock of Ages is coming to town for its 10th-anniversary tour.

The CN Centre made the announcement Tuesday morning (Dec. 4) at local music store Electron Sound and Percussion.

“This is a real shrine of Rock in northern B.C.,” says CN Centre manager Glen Mikkelsen. “It’s a great space with a cool vibe and the perfect place to announce the next major show coming to Prince George.”

Rock of Ages has been nominated for five Tony Awards, including best musical. The production will be brought to Prince George by True North Touring and Quatro Entertainment.

The story takes place in 1987 on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip when a small town girl meets a big city rocker. The musical allows fans to rock out once again to their favourite songs from the '80s, featuring music from iconic bands such as Styx, Poison, Twisted Sister and Whitesnake, among others.

Rock of Ages opened on Broadway in 2009. You might also remember Rock of Ages from the 2012 movie starring Tom Cruise.

“It’s a great time to be a rock fan in Prince George,” says Mikkelsen, citing the Cariboo Rocks the North lineup and the recent Judas Priest announcement.

The show will take place at the CN Centre in the spring on May 10, but tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 7 at noon through ticketsnorth.ca.
