A man caught in Jasper in a vehicle stolen in Prince George has been sentenced to 658 days in jail.

Donovan Blaine Roberts, 19, and a youth who cannot be named, were apprehended in the Alberta town, four hours west of Prince George, over the Family Day long weekend.

Police had been keeping an eye out for the two in connection with thefts from a man delivering food to a Vanier Drive home on the afternoon of February 11. Police have said the two were found with the man's vehicle and the food.

Roberts, who is known to the police and the courts and has remained in custody since his arrest, was also sentenced to 548 days for aggravated assault from a February 8 incident. He must also serve one year probation upon completion of the terms in jail.

The sentences were issued Wednesday in Prince George provincial court.
