A suspect in an armed robbery of a 15th Avenue convenience store Monday night has been arrested and now faces charges, Prince George RCMP said Friday.
Provincial Crown counsel has charged Eric John Barnes, 25, of Smithers, with robbery, resisting arrest and breach of probation.
A man walked into the PG Foods in the 3100 block of 15th Avenue, near Central Street East at about 8:35 p.m., produced a knife and stole the cash register and with it, a quantity of cash.
The suspect ran to a vehicle waiting nearby and fled the area with a second suspect, police said. The vehicle was located abandoned near Garvin Street, several blocks away from where the robbery occurred.
Members of Prince George RCMP's crime reduction team and downtown enforcement unit arrested Barnes on Wednesday.
He remains in custody and a hearing for his case is set for next Wednesday.
