Roadside sign damaged in theft

A digital roadside sign board suffered an estimated $20,000 in damage and lost items and Prince George RCMP is asking for the public's help in tracking down whoever was behind the acts.

This portable digital sign was the target of theft and mischief when it was placed alongside Highway 16 West at Norman Lake Road last weekend to advise area residents last week of an evacuation alert.

A digital roadside sign board suffered an estimated $20,000 in damage and lost items and Prince George RCMP is asking for the public's help in tracking down whoever was behind the acts.

The portable sign had been placed on Highway 16 at Norman Lake Road, west of the city, to advise residents in the area of a wildfire evacuation alert last weekend.

The batteries, solar panel and trailer licence plate (8761C) were stolen and the board was damaged sometime between Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300, or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
