Welcome back to Monday!

The start of a new week will bring more potentially rainy weather. Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud and a 40 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries in the afternoon. There's also going to be risk of a thunderstorm late in the afternoon with wind southwest 30 km/h gusting to 50 and a high of 3 C.

Tonight will be partly cloudy with 40 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries early in the evening. Wind up to 15 km/h and the  low will drop to  -3 C with wind chill near - 5C.

While mild in Prince George, this rainy weather comes as most of the province is battling storms from a rolling Pacific system.

Environment Canada says the central coast, inland sections, Howe Sound and the Fraser Valley will get the worst of the rain, with heavy downpours of up to 150 millimetres of rain along the coast through Monday.

Wind will be the problem in the Peace River region and Fraser Canyon, with the Pacific frontal system bringing gusts up to 90 km/h.

Winter storm warnings have also been posted for the Fraser Canyon along the Coquihalla Highway and Highway 3, where snow is expected to change to rain as warm air moves over southern B.C.
