Hard to believe, but today is the last day of July!

However, Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Prince George with thunderstorms in the forecast.

The city will see sunny skies to start the day, but clouds will roll in by the afternoon and bring a 70 per cent chance of showers and/or thunderstorms.

"Some of these thunderstorms may become severe and can be capable of generating strong wind gusts, heavy downpour and large hail," reads the weather statement.

"Given the recent hot and dry weather, lightning strikes will increase the potential for wildfire activity."

Conditions are expected to be the same for the evening with an even greater risk for a thunderstorm overnight.

The high could reach 29 C, but it'll feel like 33 C with the humidity, while the low drops to 14 C.
