Mother Nature may be in a bit of a mood today (Jan. 2) for Prince George.
Environment Canada says the city will start with mainly sunny skies with light 20 km/h winds in the morning, but clouds will roll in by the afternoon.
A special weather statement is in effect for the region as a 'strong winter storm' could bring more than 5 cm of snow.
This is forecast to begin early in the evening as winds die down slightly to 15 km/h.
Gusts will drop the mercury from today's high of -3 C to a low of -11 C with the chill.
