Local members of the Metis heritage, and those all across Canada and beyond, are celebrating Louis Riel today.
Those wishing to gather in Prince George to commemorate the prairie hero's day of death can meet for food, entertainment and fellowship starting at 4:30 p.m. (dinner at 6 p.m.) at the Kinsmen Hall (777 Kinsmen Place)
"We'll be having turkey, moose, deer, perogies, bannock and stew, potatoes, glazed carrots, salads, deserts," said co-organizer Patrick Pocha. He added that craft tables and entertainers would also be involved in the event, with silent auction items and 50-50 draws going on too.
"It's a joint effort sponsored by Northern Interior Metis Cultural Society, PG Metis Elders, and Kikino Metis Child and Families," said Pocha.
Admission is free with a nonperishable food donation.
