The Wheelin' Warriors of the North are gearing up for their second crack at the Ride to Conquer Cancer with a group ride-a-thon on Sunday.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Movement Group Fitness Mecca participants can take part in 30-minute or 60-minute indoor bike classes all the while raising money for the BC Cancer Foundation. A minimum $20 donation is required to participate and the classes are designed for people of all fitness levels.
In addition to the group rides, there will be a barbecue, bike tuning by donation as well as free face painting and an outdoor bike-a-thon for children.
To reserve a spot in Sunday's event, register online at www.themovementgroupfitness.com or visit the location at 7090 Domano Blvd. no later than Saturday.
The Wheelin' Warriors are a group of more than two dozen local cycling enthusiasts who will be taking part in the annual two-day bike ride beginning in Vancouver on June 14. Participants can choose from four different routes - two begin in Vancouver and end in Seattle and two are round trips departing and arriving in Vancouver.
Last year the Wheelin' Warriors raised nearly $100,000 for cancer research in the province and team captain Karin Piche is looking to meet and exceed that figure this year.
The BC Cancer Foundation is the fundraising arm of the BC Cancer Agency and has an office in Prince George.
