Think pink moustaches and feather boas as the Ladies of Harley host the third annual Ride 4 the Cure Sunday at 11 a.m. starting at the Harley Shop.

"People really get into the spirit of the ride," said Ruth Buehler, Ladies of Harley officer and coordinator of the event. "It's really a lot of fun."

All funds raised will go to the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation in support of the Regional Cancer Care Unit at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. The funds are earmarked for workshops to help cancer patients and their families cope with what's to come.

Frankly Speaking about Cancer is a workshop where the will of the patient and the skill of the physician combine to combat cancer. Cancer Transitions: Moving Beyond Treatment is a program that helps survivors maintain good health and a positive mindset.

The Breast Cancer Journey workshop offers an opportunity to educate all health care providers about the whole process a patient goes through when fighting breast cancer.

The ride will start at the Harley Davidson shop, 2626 Vance Road, at 11 a.m., go past the Relay for Life at Masich Place Stadium, past the hospital to show support to those battling cancer and then off to Bear Lake for lunch.

"We usually get between 50 and 60 riders and we raise about $2,500," said Buehler. Any donation is accepted and people can grab a pledge form or make the donation themselves. Donations of $20 or more are eligible for a charitable donation receipt.

"Part of the beauty of this ride is that it's so simple. If you just want to come and ride and wear pink and say I'm supporting people with cancer or if you want to come and make a huge donation -- whatever people want to do to show their support is OK."

Ladies of Harley are members of the Harley Owners Group and the ladies encourage all riders to join this very worthy cause.

"We want to show our support for all family members not just the person who is dealing with the cancer," said Buehler.

"We think that's very important, too. This is one cause people really like to support and all the money stays in Prince George."

The ride has been moved up to the month of May as it is Women Riders Month. The last two rides were in September and organizers are hoping for the same kind of strong turn out.
