Completion of the $7-million upgrade of River Road was celebrated Friday when dignitaries ventured out onto the pavement at the entrance to the CN intermodal facility to cut a ribbon to officially open the 3.6-kilometre stretch.
In 2009, 1.6 kilometres, from Cameron Street Bridge to Foley Crescent was widened and repaved and a further two kilometres, from Foley Crescent to the CN overpass at First Avenue was completed in late August.
