The Canadian flag is always featured at the city's annual Remembrance Day services but a tradition that began last year has made our national symbol even more prominent every Nov. 11.
A flag to represent each fallen Canadian soldier from the war in Afghanistan is now placed to line the walking route that leads from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 to the cenotaph at City Hall.
That means 158 flags will have to be placed into portable flag pole bases on Sunday and volunteers are needed to complete that task and dismantle the flags after the remembrance ceremonies. While the bases are heavy, the flags are easily placed. Volunteers are being asked to meet at 8 a.m. at the Legion parking lot at 1335 Seventh Ave.
