The June 22, 2000 event, one of the most significant events in the history of the city, brought national attention to the local crisis and laid the groundwork for the Northern Medical Program as well as other health science programs at UNBC.

Since then UNBC has graduated 70 medical doctors from the NMP, 631 nurses and 14 nurse practitioners.

To mark the anniversary UNBC will hold a celebration at 2 p.m. Tuesday on the front lawn of the Northern Health Sciences Centre. Read more in The Citizen
