For years, residents and visitors have filed over to 1542 Alward Street at Christmas time to take in the breathtaking light show that long time resident Gordie Colbert put his heart into each season. When fans offered money, Colbert asked them to donate to the Prince George Hospice House.
When they suggested he enter the City of Prince George's Christmas light display contest, he told them it wasn't about accolades, it was about offering something to the community.
This season's Alward house display will be a modest one following Colbert's passing of cancer in September. Those wishing to remember Colbert and pay tribute to his years of giving joy at Christmastime can make a donation to Hospice House or Spirit of the North Northern Cancer Centre.
