It's a hat trick as the Prince George Relay for Life, the only 24-hour relay in the country, was named the top fundraiser in Canada for the third time in a row.
The event raised $557,233.54 to date with more funds still being donated.
Terrebonne-Mascouche, Quebec, came in second, having raised $519,000.
The event held May 7 and 8 saw 119 teams and 1,208 participants gather this year at Masich Place Stadium.
"We're so proud that Prince George is once again the number one Relay For Life in the nation," said Aimee Cassie, annual giving coordinator Canadian Cancer Society, BC and Yukon. "We wouldn't have achieved the top spot three years in a row without tremendous support from the people of Prince George and some very special and extremely generous participants. Every year the people of Prince George come together to help make Relay For Life the best in the country. It's really inspirational and we are so grateful."
To keep the momentum going, the local branch of the cancer society is encouraging people to think about how they can keep the title of number one Relay for Life in Canada in 2017, which is the 25th anniversary of the local walk.
"I can't think of a better way to celebrate everything we've accomplished in the last 25 years," said Cassie.
In Canada each year more than 160,000 participate in a Relay for Life to honour lost loved ones and to help those fighting the battle against cancer.
