Deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families will once again have a few days of fun and adventure when a local support society hosts its annual overnight camp.

The three-day Adventure Camp, taking place Sept. 9 to Sept. 11 at Ness Lake Bible Camp, is hosted by the Northern BC Children and Families Hearing Society - which offers educational opportunities and opportunities for deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families to socialize with each other.

According to the society, this socialization experiences help combat the isolation of deaf and hard of hearing children throughout the north of the province, particularly those from smaller communities.

The camp includes the typical sleep-away camp activities such as craft, archery, campfire and American Sign Language stories. For campers, the outcome of the experience include increased communication skills and self-confidence for the children, as well as feelings of acceptance.

Registration deadline for the camp is Aug. 29. For more information, email pgdeaf@telus.net or phone 250-563-2425.
