Mayor Lyn Hall will join community policing volunteers in handing out free reflectors and tip cards to walkers on Thursday morning as part of a province-wide pedestrian safety campaign.
They will be at the Pine Centre Mall bus loop, 7:30-9 a.m.
"Crashes with pedestrians spike in fall and winter as the weather changes and daylight hours decrease," ICBC said in a statement. "One in five people killed in car crashes are pedestrians."
In northern B.C., on average, 70 pedestrians are injured in 92 crashes every year, according to ICBC statistics.
