"Crashes with pedestrians spike in fall and winter as the weather changes and daylight hours decrease," ICBC said in a statement. "One in five people killed in car crashes are pedestrians."

In northern B.C., on average, 70 pedestrians are injured in 92 crashes every year, according to ICBC statistics.
