A police vehicle was in the path of a driver who violated the red light at Domano Boulevard and O'Grady Road.

The Monday crash tied up traffic at the busy intersection during the noon rush, but no one was injured in the incident.

"The police officer was west bound on Domano Boulevard heading towards Highway 16, approaching a green light at O'Grady Road," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass. "A Dodge pickup travelling north on O'Grady Road failed to stop at the red light at Domano Boulevard. The police officer attempted to avoid a collision by braking and swerving further to the right side of the road. These actions likely reduced the impact of the collision, but were not able to avoid the collision."

The police vehicle struck the passenger side of the pickup, causing minimal damage to the pickup and moderate damage to the front end of the police vehicle.

A Motor Vehicle Act violation ticket was issued to the pickup driver, a 69-year-old male resident of Prince George, for failing to stop for a red light.

Several witnesses stopped to assist the two victims of the incident, and provided statements to investigators. Anyone who has knowledge to assist the investigation, who has not yet talked with police, is asked to call the Prince George RCMP detachment at 250-561-3300.
