The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is looking for the help of children in naming the newest members of the force.
The RCMP has launched its Name the Foal contest where children across Canada are asked to name up to 10 new foals born at the RCMP breeding farm in Pakenham, Ontario.
These foals may grow up to become Musical Ride horses, which is a full troop of 32 riders performing intricate figures and drills choreographed to music.
The Musical Ride performs in up to 50 communities across Canada between May and October.
The performances help raise thousands of dollars for local charities and non-profit organizations.
Entries can be submitted online or by mail.
To qualify, entries must meet the following criteria:
- Names must begin with the letter "S"
- Participants must be 14 years old or younger
- Only one entry per child will be eligible
- Contestants must live in Canada
- Online entries must be received no later than April 30, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. eastern time
- Mail entries must be postmarked on or before April 30, 2020
Winning names will be chosen by the RCMP Musical Ride and Heritage Branch in May.
Up to 10 winners will be selected from across Canada and will receive RCMP prizes.
