A pair of suspects got grilled by Prince George police when a local Mountie saw them cookin' down the street late at night with an odd item.
The cop was on patrol at about 4:45 in the morning, Monday, when the two familiar faces were seen pushing a barbecue down a city street. When questioned, they responded that they had borrowed it. The cop had a hard time believing them.
The two, whom police spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass called "known to police and have histories of property related offences," were in the vicinity of 17th Avenue and Redwood Street when they were seen.
The suspects, aged 23 and 24, told the inquiring officer that they knew the owner of the portable grill, but there wasn't any steak to their sizzle.
"The officer made attempts to verify that the item was loaned to the two, but was unable," said Douglass. "The barbeque was seized until the owner can be located."
Police are now looking for the rightful owner of the cooking unit. If you are missing yours from the back deck, carport, etc. please call 250-561-3300 with a detailed description.
The suspects have not yet been charged over these burning questions, but they did get a reminder that you just never know when the heat's going to show up.
