The treatment of a female prisoner in Prince George during the summer has led to an RCMP internal investigation, Supt. Brenda Butterworth-Carr announced Sunday.
A Prince George woman was arrested for causing a disturbance August 27 and was taken to the city's RCMP cells. Concerns regarding the care and handling of the prisoner during the booking process while in custody were made known, leading to Butterworth-Carr to review the video of the incident.
"I received the complaint and have just had the opportunity to review the video. On the surface there was immediately enough concern to further the investigation," she said.
The video has sparked an internal code of conduct investigation to determine if one female and two male members involved breached RCMP policy.
