RCMP seeking suspect after firework given to child

Prince George RCMP are on the lookout for a man who allegedly gave a seven-year-old what he described as a "piece of chalk" but turned out to be a firework. The incident occurred Wednesday at about 3 p.m.

Prince George RCMP are on the lookout for a man who allegedly gave a seven-year-old what he described as a "piece of chalk" but turned out to be a firework.

The incident occurred Wednesday at about 3 p.m. at a bus stop near the corner of Meyer and Bellamy roads.

The suspect was driving a red van and is described as Caucasian, 40 to 50 years old with a grey beard.

"The RCMP are very concerned by this incident," police said. "The potential for harm to the child is deeply concerning. Investigators would like to speak to the person that gave this item to the child."
