A red lifted pickup struck a stroller carrying two children that mom was pushing across the street at Fifth and Carney at about 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 4.

The pedestrians were using the marked crosswalk at the time of the hit-and-run and Prince George RCMP are asking witnesses to come forward.

The mom and children were crossing from the corner closest to the gas station when the truck, believed to be a Dodge, in the north-bound turning lane of Carney Street collided with the stroller during its turn to proceed west bound on Fifth Avenue.

“Thankfully no one was injured in this incident," Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP, said.

"However, police officers would still like to speak with the driver of the vehicle as they failed to remain at the scene of accident. Investigators are asking that anyone who was in the area and has a dash camera please check their footage for the time in question in the chance they caught footage of the truck.”

Police officers are also reminding drivers that even on a green light for vehicle traffic, pedestrians still maintain the right of way.

It is very important drivers check all areas of a crosswalk for pedestrians before proceeding.
