In this case for two Prince George suspects, dog wasn't man's best friend.
Police received a report that a truck had been stolen at roughly 4:15 a.m. on Piedmont Crescent in Prince George.
At roughly 7:15 a.m., police say a member of the Prince George RCMP's Police Dog Services Section located a stolen 2003 F-350 pickup that was travelling southbound on Highway 97 between Prince George and Hixon.
Before the officer tried to stop the truck, the vehicle turned onto Carver Road and went through a ditch and ended up being stuck in a nearby field.
A man and woman passenger fled on foot into a wooded area.
Other officers arrived on scene including two other Police Dog Service Teams. One dog, Jak, was sent to track the two suspects.
Prince George RCMP say Jak went through bushes for close to two kilometres and located the suspects; they were arrested with the assistance of another K9 named Taz.
A loaded shotgun, an improvised explosive device, and other weapons were found close to the man.
Both suspects are from Prince George; police say a 19-year-old woman was taken to hospital, treated for minor bite wounds, and then taken to the local detachment.
The 27-year-old man was taken to the detachment directly.
Cpl. Craig Douglass says the B.C. RCMP's Explosive Disposal Section was called in to safely destroy the improvised explosive device.
Both suspects are being held for court.
