Occupants of a home in a targeted shooting directed at a nearby residence Friday afternoon narrowly escaped injury when a bullet shattered the window of their home.
At about 5:40 p.m. Friday, police were called to the 700 block of Freeman Street responding to a report of shots fired. Prince George RCMP officers confirmed a shooting had occurred and the shots were directed at a house containing three people inside the residence at the time of the shooting. No other occupants were located and there were no injuries.
Those responsible for the shooting fled the scene before police arrived.
"One bullet came close to hitting occupants," said RCMP spokesman Craig Douglass.
"From what I understand, it went went through a window and went through a wall and on the other side of that wall were people standing."
The RCMP's major crime and forensics sections were called in with dog handlers to assist the investigating officers. Police believe the public is at no further risk.
"Because of the fact there are persons we believe still at large, we're not going to give away (details of) the investigation before we need to," said Douglass.
