Mounties in Burns Lake are investigating after a family claims they found a needle in a piece of Halloween candy.

Cpl. Madonna Saunderson with North District RCMP says police were notified on Saturday (Nov. 2) after a child asked the parent to check the candy.

She says the child had been to several neighborhoods, so police have not been able to pinpoint where the candy exactly came from.

This is the only report of harmful candy Burns Lake police has received.

You should have an adult inspect your candy before eating it and to only eat things that are in unopened wrappers said S./Sgt. Shaunna Lewis with the Burns Lake RCMP in a news release.

If you have any information about the incident, you are asked to contact Burns Lake RCMP at 250-692-7171.
