The RCMP's Girls' Fitness for Fun program is back again for this fall.
Aimed at girls nine to 13 years old, it provides an opportunity to try out a wide variety of activities, such as running, The Groove workout method, taekwondo, snow shoeing, belly dancing, roller skating and bowling, all at no cost and in a safe environment.
"We're really excited," said RCMP community policing coordinator Linda Parker. "We've got some wonderful volunteers assisting with the provision of this program."
It starts Oct. 11 and runs for eight Thursdays, 4 to 5:15 p.m., based out of the South Fort George Family Resource Centre, 1200 LaSalle Avenue, although some of the sessions will be held at other venues.
More than 50 girls participated in last year's edition. It's an offshoot of the 10-week Run For Fun program that runs during the spring and where girls lean how to train for a five-kilometre road race.
Registration forms are available online at www.communitypolicing.princegeorge.ca, at the RCMP's Community Policing office at 575 Brunswick Street, and at the Prince George RCMP detachment located at 999 Brunswick Street.
