Prince George RCMP called in the Explosive Disposal Unit on April 29th to deal with dynamite sticks discovered in a local shed.

Leslie Smith, RCMP media liaison, said police responded to a call in the 4000 block of Weisbrod Road where a female resident had discovered the dynamite in a back pack.

Police secured the scene and called on the RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit in Vancouver which arrived the same evening and safely disposed of the dynamite in a rural gravel pit in the Pineview area.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident. The public is cautioned of the dangers surrounding the storage and use of explosives, and importance of contacting police for the removal and disposition of any such material.

It is also illegal to possess any explosive substance without lawful excuse and charges can be laid in such cases.
