A 12-person jury began the process Wednesday of deciding if Denis Florian Ratte killed his wife slightly more than 13 years ago.

A 12-person jury began the process Wednesday of deciding if Denis Florian Ratte killed his wife slightly more than 13 years ago.

Their deliberations began at about midday following four weeks of testimony during which they heard from 16 witnesses, seven of them undercover police officers who developed an elaborate ruse to tease an admission from Ratte.

Ratte, 58, is accused of second degree murder in the death of Wendy Ann Twiss Ratte, 44, who went missing on the morning of Aug. 18, 1997.
