Rain or shine, KidzArt Dayz are a go

Messy, sloppy, smiley, artsy. It is time for the annual family flurry of artful fun, when the plaza gets plastered with pandemonium.

Two Rivers Gallery spills out into Canada Games Plaza each summer for two days of painting, crafting, spilling and splattering at BMO KidzArt Dayz. Rain or shine, a festival of art stations will keep the community fully engaged on Friday and Saturday.

"Everyone is welcome to come out and engage in creative play at this free event for all ages," said KidzArt Dayz co-ordinator Talia Blieler. "This year, there will be over 15 art activities, such as DIY face painting, giant paint spinner, jewelry making, as well as 10 community creativity stations."

Those stations are operated by creative partners like The Exploration Place, Huble Homestead, BC SPCA, Prince George Native Friendship Center, UNBC, REAPS, Tourism Prince George, Central B.C. Railway and Forestry Museum, YMCA of Northern B.C., and the P.G. Public Library. All will be on-site running exciting art activities.

Bleiler said this year "marks the arrival of new activities, including tie dying, finger print doodles, and a community mural. Live music will fill the plaza, featuring special guest and Canadian performing legend, Fred Penner. He will be performing both days at 11 a.m."

There will also be a concession, local ice cream, and all the adjacent amenities like the gallery facility and public library all around the activities. The creative frenzy is also a one-time-only chance to get a gallery membership (it comes with a host of discounts and special opportunities at the gallery all year long) for half price.

"This fantastic deal is only available during BMO KidzArt Dayz, so we encourage you to take advantage of this great opportunity," said Bleiler.

The event runs from 10-3 each day. Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to contact Bleiler at the gallery as soon as possible for possible opportunities to help out. Email her at [email protected] or call 250-614-7800.
