Prince George is fast becoming a hub of heavy metal music, with new performances from popular acts being announced each week.

Today local organizers announced the booking of the top 10 rock radio hit-makers Godsmack, performing at CN Centre Sunday, Sept. 4 with special guests the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.

Labour Day Weekend will see Sully Erna and his mates take to the stage.

In 1995, after playing the drums for more than 23 years, Sully Erna decided to start a new band. It was only a matter of time before he realized he needed to front the band himself.

A year later, with some new band members, Godsmack recorded All Wound Up and followed this with their second album Awake.

The title track for the CD broke chart records in 2000 and 2001, while the instrumental Vampires earned the band its first Grammy nomination. Sully was asked to do the soundtrack for the motion picture The Scorpion King, the third installment in the Mummy saga.

The song Godsmack wrote and performed lived up to its title, I Stand Alone, became the No. 1 single at Rock Radio and the most played Active Rock song in 2002 for 14 weeks straight.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets.
