Quesnel will host local government leaders from across the region in 2013.

The city is slated to host the North Central Local Government Association's 58th annual general meeting from May 1 to May 3, 2013.

The event is expected to draw more than 250 mayors, city councillors, First Nations officials and regional district directors, including delegates from Prince George.

"... this is an incredible opportunity to showcase our community and play host to local and provincial government representatives," Quesnel mayor Mary Sjostrom said in a written statement. "The conference gives our community a platform to highlight our tourism assets and community spirit to the rest of the province, while encouraging the attendees to come back in the future. It will also provide a significant economic impact during the conference."

It has been over a decade since Quesnel has hosted the annual conference.
