Quesnel RCMP report that an internal investigation into the March 29 arrest of a man with mental disabilities has been initiated.
Staff Sgt. Clark Marlow said the arrest near Correlieu senior secondary school was the result of a
9 -1-1 complaint of the man walking near the school with the handle of a handgun protruding from his clothing.
Marlow added the family of the man is alleging excessive force was used by the police during the arrest, and in view of the nature of the allegations, an investigation has been initiated.
Marlow said a senior member of the RCMP from outside the Quesnel detachment has been assigned to conduct the investigation.
