For staff of the Coast Inn of the North, their newest guest is high-energy but low maintenance.
He's always friendly, especially if there are treats on hand.
Mooshoo, a 7-month old lab cross, has been adopted by the hotel from the Prince George Humane Society. Along with front office staff, the puppy will be stationed in the lobby of the hotel over the next several weeks. He will also greet guests from his strategically placed doghouse next to the front desk. Hotel staff will take on the responsibility of feeding and walking the dog.
The Coast Inn of the North, as well as other Coast hotels throughout B.C., has long welcomed guests and their dogs within hotel rooms.
"We all have a warm spot in our heart for all the four-legged, furry family members that come through our doors" says Stephanie Young, the hotel's front office manager.
"We have been working with the Humane Society to assist in showcasing the animals available for adoption to find their forever home and encourage fostering."
The hotel will not be a permanent home for Mooshoo, but staff hope that his placement in the hotel will encourage a permanent adoption.
"Fostering is the lifeline of our organization," said Angela McLaren, executive director of the Prince George Humane Society.
"The Coast's offer to open its heart by helping a dog through this transition period is heartwarming to our organization."
Young believes Mooshoo's tenure at the Coast may be brief. She believes that the dog's friendly temperament will lend itself to a speedy adoption.
"I promise you, if you were to meet Mooshoo, you'd want to take him home."
