A forest-fire travel restriction order for the Pelican Lake area south of Prince George that ended Friday is not being extended by the B.C. Forest Service.
However, people are still being asked not to go into the area if they don't need to, B.C. Forest Service information officer Rosalie MacAulay said Friday.
There are still fire fighters and equipment working in the area, and there remains a danger of trees falling on roads, she noted. The severity of fires caused deep burning which has weakened the root systems of still-standing trees. "It's not totally over yet," observed MacAulay.
